Sarang - IAF Helo Display Team

17th July 2008 - RAF Waddington

A visit to RAF Waddington to see the Indian Air Force's Helicopter Display Team - 'Sarang'.

Sarang means peacock, being the national bird of India. The reference is also continued with the paint scheme of the helicopters with a peacock being painted down both sides.

Harrier GR9A (ZG862)

4th June 2008 - RAF Cottesmore

A busy day at RAF Cottesmore with well over 30 movements in one day. With 1 Sqn active in Afghanistan it was 4 Sqn and the Naval Strike Wing (NSW) doing the flying.

I was pleased to see more airframes sporting 4 Sqn markings and the NSW once again has an airframe with squadron markings.

Typhoon T1 (ZJ815)

8th May 2008 - LFA7

A trip to Wales to make the most of the good weather turned out to be a very slow day but the French Air Force Alphajets and my first low level Typhoon T1 made it worthwhile.

Tornado F3 (ZE764)

7th May 2008 - RAF Waddington - RAF Role Demo

The RAF Role Demo team displayed twice on Wednesday to achieve their Public Display Authorisation (PDA).

The first display was with the secondary team and the second display with the primary team.

New for this year is an Apache from AAC but at the loss of the C-130 Hercules.

Vulcan B2 (XH558)

16th April 2008 - RAF Cottesmore - Vulcan special

Vulcan to the sky! It was indeed.

The TVOC Vulcan B2 using callsign Marshall 1 took to the sky again from RAF Cottesmore.

What a great sight!

Typhoon FGR4 (ZJ942)

10th April 2008 - RAF Coningsby

The rubbish weather has kept me away from my usual haunts for almost two months so I escaped to RAF Coningsby in hope of catching the practice Typhoon display.

The practice Typhoon display didn't happen so I stayed to shoot the locals. 17(R) Sqn are away at China Lake but 29(R) Sqn, 11 Sqn, 41(R) Sqn and 3(F) Sqn were all flying.
