Due to the biblical amount of rain the UK has been receiving over the last couple of weeks I decided not to attend the show days of the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) this year. Instead I shot the two arrival days on the Thursday and Friday. Shooting from Park and View West (P&V West) I was at the mercy of the air traffic controllers. If they sent the aircraft ‘long’ on the runway they would use the loop and I could shoot them. If they turned them off early I wouldn’t get to see let alone shoot them. Mostly it worked out well with a lot of the interesting aircraft sent down to use the loop before back taxing. I missed most of the display acts as they were turned off early onto the active side of the base and some of the fighters turned 180 on the runway rather than using the loop. Sadly the B-2A Spirit also turned on the runway rather than coming through the loop.
